Annual May Day Madrigals

May 3, 2026

The whole School gathered for the much-loved annual May Day madrigals on Friday 1 May, a tradition that warmly welcomes the arrival of spring. Members of the Choir assembled atop the Mansion House portico to perform two lively madrigals: Now is the Month of Maying by Thomas Morley and the spirited French chanson Il est bel et bon by Pierre Passereau.

The joyful performances brought a wonderful sense of occasion to the morning, with pupils and staff joining together to enjoy the music and celebrate the changing season.
