Art

Welcome to Cokethorpe Art

Prep Art

Art plays such an important part in early years development, both in terms of developing children’s abilities to express themselves creatively and those fine motor skills around drawing and painting technique, complementing their advancing writing skills.

Specialist teaching in Art is available throughout the Prep School, with additional opportunities in Reception and Year 1 for the children to express themselves creatively. The dedicated Prep Art Room is on the top floor of the Mansion House, an ideal setting for thinking big thoughts and bringing them to life creatively.

Pupils explore a wide range of media, from collage and pottery to charcoal sketches and painting, as they expand their knowledge and hone their skills.

Upcoming Events

Find out about and book for the upcoming events at the School, from Open Mornings to art exhibitions, concerts and drama productions across the Prep and Senior Schools.

Senior Art

Art in the Senior School is a popular academic choice at GCSE and A Level (see the GCSE and A Level subject guides for more information). This popularity is complemented by a varied selection of activities and clubs among our AOBs, across multiple artistic disciplines. The Art Rooms provide light, bright spaces to delve into these disciplines, allowing creativity to evolve and thrive.

The spaces too can be reimagined. Designed to be adaptable, walls can be moved or removed to create a flowing exhibition space, a perfect environment for showcasing pupils’ work. Further dedicated spaces for Textiles and photography complete this impressive offering.
