We are thrilled to announce that Calla (Upper Sixth, Feilden) has been awarded the ‘Highly Commended’ prize in the prestigious Royal Geographical Society essay writing competition for 2024. She will be presented with the award in person in the coming months, an exciting recognition of her hard work and insight.
Calla’s essay on sustainability was both compelling and thought-provoking. In it, she writes: ‘Climate action at this time is one of the broadest and most ever-changing aspects of sustainability, with many other issues directly linked to its outcome. Inequality, for instance, is shaped by climate change, especially in terms of gender and poverty. Yet, with climate action being so vast, the question becomes: where do we start? The answer is endless—simply put, we must begin.’
This national competition is highly competitive, and Calla’s achievement is a testament to her dedication and intellectual depth. We could not be more proud of her success.
