There was an atmosphere of excitement and eager anticipation at Cokethorpe this morning as our Upper Sixth students received a set of A Level results that represent the School’s strongest performance in recent years.
This year’s cohort have achieved outstanding outcomes, with 18% of all grades awarded at A*, 48% at A*-A and an impressive 77% at A*-B. The most commonly achieved grade was an A, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our students alongside the expertise and support of their teachers.
This success follows equally impressive performances from students on our BTEC Extended Diploma pathway, where every student achieved either a Distinction* or Distinction.
However, results day is about much more than grades.
This year’s Upper Sixth students leave behind a lasting legacy within our School community. As peer mentors, prefects, sports captains, musicians, artists, actors and student leaders, they have made a significant contribution to life at Cokethorpe. Their commitment, character and willingness to support others have helped shape the experience of younger pupils and enriched the School for all.

“We are immensely proud of our Year 13s and all they have achieved. These results reflect their hard work and commitment, and are a great cause for celebration. But today is also about celebrating the remarkable young adults they have become.
“Our Year 13s have enriched life at Cokethorpe, whether through nurturing younger pupils as peer mentors, championing house events, organising a charity clothes swap or debating passionately. Grades are an important measure of success, but we are equally proud of the wider journeys our students have taken, and we are excited to follow their next steps.”
