The Co-Curricular Programme

Cokethorpe is well-known for its extensive and highly regarded Co-Curricular programme. Discover what is on offer to our pupils below.

Complementing the academic programme

Often described as a school defined by its breadth of opportunity,
Cokethorpe stands out for the sheer range of experiences available to pupils. With more than 35 activities in Prep and over 100 in Senior available each term, our clubs, societies, and activities (AOBs in Senior; Activities Programme in Prep) are woven into timetables and form an integral part of the School’s offer. Drama, Sport, and Music further enrich life from Reception to Upper Sixth.

AOBs and Activities

Prep Activities and the Senior AOBs provide exceptional breadth and deeper opportunities to learn, stretch, and explore.

Art

From early years onward, pupils develop expressive, interpretive skills across multiple media, guided by knowledgeable teachers and inspired by creative spaces.

Drama

Across Prep and Senior, productions are staged termly in The Shed (our 200-seat
black-box theatre) or the wood-
panelled Corinthian Room. A wardrobe of 3,500+ costumes and specialist support in sound, lighting, make-up, set design, and wardrobe complete the experience.

Music

Music resonates throughout the School, from popular Prep performances to diverse Senior concerts and many joint occasions. A suite of Macs equipped with Sibelius and GarageBand supports composition and recording, while events from St Cecilia to
May Day Madrigals
showcase talent.

Sport

Sport is integral to Cokethorpe life. Excellence is underpinned by the importance of participation, and breadth ensures every pupil finds a sport or pursuit they enjoy.

Outdoor Education

From bushcraft in Reception to the Sixth Form paddlers tackling the Marathon Kayak Devizes–Westminster race, Outdoor Education connects pupils to challenge and the natural world through climbing, clay shooting, target sprint, sailing, bushcraft, and more within Games and AOBs.
