There were anagrams and puzzles aplenty, as pupils faced off in the annual House Countdown competition. The first heat saw Queen Anne take an early lead, and, despite Feilden and Harcourt narrowing the gap, Queen Anne maintained their lead to make it through to the final. The second heat witnessed a flying start from Swift, who maintained the gap throughout to Gascoigne and Vanbrugh, guaranteeing their spot in the final.
With two teams left at the top and four at the bottom, the final was a closely fought match. As with all the dramatic finishes in Countdown, it ultimately came down to the infamous Countdown conundrum. Unfortunately, neither team were able to successfully solve this one, resulting in Swift being crowned this year’s victors. Thanks go to the Maths Department, and the audience, who should be applauded for their participation, which included getting a nine-letter word!
