Fifth Form Pupils Celebrate Excellent GCSE Results

Aug 20, 2026

The success of Cokethorpe’s Fifth Form pupils in this year’s GCSE examinations continues a pattern of rising academic achievement across the School, with outcomes reflecting both the strength of the cohort and the sustained strategic focus on teaching and learning in recent years.

This year, 12% of all grades awarded were Grade 9, with 27% at Grades 9-8. Almost half of all grades were awarded at Grades 9-7, while three quarters were achieved at Grades 9-6.

The results represent a range of individual successes across the year group. From pupils achieving strings of top grades to those reaching personal goals through perseverance and dedication. Together, they show a year group that has approached the challenge of examination with ambition and maturity.

Reflecting on the achievements of the Fifth Form, Dr Sarah Squire, Head, said:

“Our Fifth Form pupils have worked tirelessly in pursuit of these grades and can be hugely proud of what they have achieved today. Behind every set of grades is an individual story.

“I have been impressed by the determination and resilience shown by our pupils, including those who joined us from OLA midway through their GCSE studies. It has also been wonderful to see students balancing their academic studies with wider opportunities, from participating in a music tour to Belgium to securing an Arkwright Scholarship.

“Congratulations to all our Fifth Form pupils. I am excited to see everything they go on to accomplish in Sixth Form and beyond.”

While headline statistics provide one measure of success, today’s results, strong though they may be, are perhaps best understood through the individual journeys they represent. Whether adapting to a new school during their GCSE studies, pursuing excellence beyond the classroom, or exceeding their own expectations, members of this year’s Fifth Form have demonstrated qualities that extend far beyond examination performance.

The entire Cokethorpe community congratulates the Fifth Form on their achievements and wishes them every success as they begin their Sixth Form journey.
