Cokethorpe School was delighted to welcome Jean François Pichon (Jef) as part of the European Union’s Erasmus programme.
During his visit, Jef observed the School’s approach to integrating sport within a holistic educational experience, attending both Physical Education lessons and games sessions. His time at Cokethorpe provided opportunities to share ideas, exchange expertise and explore different approaches to sport and education.
With a background in rugby coaching and close links to the Toulouse academy system, Jef was particularly interested in Cokethorpe’s sporting provision and enjoyed watching matches during his visit.
Reflecting on his experience, he commented:
“I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, particularly the contact with teachers and other professionals. The energy from teachers in lessons was impressive, an example for some French teachers!”
He also welcomed the opportunity to discuss Physical Education and rugby coaching with colleagues across the School.
“I was very happy to share some thoughts on Physical Education, in general and on rugby in particular.”
The visit highlights the value of international partnerships in education and demonstrates how sport can provide a powerful platform for collaboration, learning and the sharing of best practice.
