Colin Fletcher 

Safeguarding Governor 

Current Position: Retired Anglican Bishop. 

Colin began his ministry in 1975 as Curate at St Peter’s, Shipley, a large suburban church in the Bradford diocese. In 1979 he became a tutor in Ethics and Early Church History at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and Curate of St Andrew’s in North Oxford. In 1984 he became the Vicar of Holy Trinity Margate and was also Rural Dean of Thanet for four years.  In 1993 Colin was appointed Chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury, before becoming Area Bishop of Dorchester in October 2000.  

Colin retired in 2020 and, in retirement, he has been licensed as an Honorary Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Oxford.  Colin was awarded an OBE in the Millennium Honours List. In 2008 he was awarded the Cross of St Augustine, the second highest international award for outstanding service to the Anglican Communion.
