This year’s Sports Day was the most competitive in recent memory, with only a few points separating the top three Houses heading into the final relays. The afternoon delivered nonstop excitement, with standout performances, record-breaking runs, and intense rivalries across both track and field.
The ever-popular Tug of War drew huge crowds, with Gascoigne’s Senior team dominating, though Feilden claimed overall victory and the Maskery Cup. On the track, records fell throughout the year groups: Lissy (Second Form, Queen Anne), Eddy (First Form, Swift), Joshua (Third Form, Queen Anne), and Jemima (Third Form, Swift) all shone in the 300m, while Immy (Fourth Form, Gascoigne) and Sophia (Lower Sixth, Feilden) broke Senior records — the latter also storming to victory in the 1,500m.
In the race of the day, Freddie (Lower Sixth, Feilden) narrowly edged out Joseph (Lower Sixth, Harcourt) in a thrilling Senior boys’ 1,500m final. Luke (Lower Sixth, Swift) and Olivia (Third Form, Harcourt) delivered commanding performances, while Grace (Second Form, Vanbrugh) stole the spotlight in the field, winning both javelin and long jump. Ralph (Third Form, Harcourt), Murray (Lower Sixth, Feilden), and Eva (Fourth Form, Gascoigne) also made their mark.
Feilden capped off the day with double relay records and a sweep of major honours: the Sports Day Cup, the Maskery Cup, and the Burfitt Cup, awarded to Lola (Fourth Form, Feilden) for the second year running after wins in the 100m, 200m, 300m, and relay. The celebrations ended with new Head of School, Mida (Lower Sixth, Feilden), presenting the trophy to Feilden’s new Head of House, Joe (Lower Sixth, Feilden).
