The Senior School were in good voice as each House took to the stage to sing their hearts out in the much-loved annual House Singing Competition. The six Houses each performed their choice of song, with enthusiasm and aplomb.
Vanbrugh sent out an ‘SOS’ to all the Abba fans, Feilden left the audience ‘still standing’ in Elton John’s shadow, Gascoigne showed who they would ‘Rather Be’, as Queen Anne performed an ode to ‘Valerie’ and Harcourt convinced us all to not ‘stop believing’. But it was Swift House who stole the show with their fabulous rendition of We Are Young by Fun.
It was Mr Tom Bennett (Director of Music at Cothill House) who joined us to adjudicate this year’s competition and had the unenviable task of choosing the winner. Mr Bennett was extremely impressed by every House’s performance and offered some excellent feedback to all our singers. Every House song was accompanied by a live band comprising: Mr Lewis (drums), Mr Rigal (bass guitar), Mr Granados and Mr Pisanello (guitar) and Mr Watson (piano) who played brilliantly as they transitioned effortlessly from one song to the next.
Congratulations to each House for their commitment, both in their performance and during rehearsals leading up to the competition.
