The Corinthian Challenge

Sep 12, 2024

Wednesday 11 September saw the second annual Corinthian Challenge, a cross-country race around our glorious grounds here at Cokethorpe. The First and Second Form ran a 2.2km race, the Third and Fourth Form covered 3.5km and the Fifth and Sixth Form ran 4km in largely good running conditions on firm ground. The top five boys and girls from each race scored for their House and their finishing positions were aggregated to find winners in each age group and an overall champion House.

The top runners in the First and Second Form for the girls and boys were Ella (First Form, Gascoigne) and Sam (Second Form, Swift). In the Third and Fourth Form, they were Olivia (Third Form, Harcourt) and Joshua (Third Form, Queen Anne) and in the Senior race, the champions were Mae (Upper Sixth, Swift) and Freddie (Lower Sixth, Feilden). On an individual level, Olivia and Joshua both set new course records in the Third and Fourth Form race (and will be eligible to run in the same race next year) and Mae took nine seconds off her course record from last year. It was Swift House, whose cumulative score secured them the title of Corinthian Challenge House Champions for 2024.
