On Monday, 28 April, the Cokethorpe netball courts came alive with energy and excitement as we welcomed visiting teams from St Andrew’s School for Girls, South Africa, for an afternoon of fast-paced netball and international friendship.
In a series of fiercely competitive matches, both sides displayed outstanding skill, spirit, and sportsmanship. Our pupils embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, demonstrating teamwork and resilience throughout, while enjoying the opportunity to compete against their talented South African counterparts.
Yet, the true highlight of the day extended beyond the court. As players from both schools connected, new friendships were quickly formed, proving once again that sport has the unique ability to unite people from across the world.
The afternoon concluded with a well-earned afternoon tea, giving everyone a chance to share stories, reflect on the day’s play, and celebrate the bond created through sport and shared experience.
This enriching visit not only offered a valuable cultural exchange but also strengthened our growing relationship with St Andrew’s — an experience that will live long in the memory of all involved.
