First Form pupils are combining creativity and craftsmanship in the Design and Technology workshop, designing and constructing striking wooden clocks inspired by the Art Deco movement.
Exploring bold geometric shapes, symmetry and clean lines, pupils translate design principles into functional, beautifully finished products.

William (First Form, Swift) commented:
‘I really enjoyed learning about different types of wood. We learnt new skills like how to use a saw, and about safety in a workshop.’
Shannon (First Form, Feilden) added:
‘My favourite part of this project was when we made a finger joint. This joint took a bit of time for me to understand, but when it came to the real thing, I gave it a go, and it was my best one yet!’
The project encourages independence, resilience and thoughtful problem-solving — valuable skills that extend far beyond the workshop.
