Year 6 recently swapped the classroom for the bright lights of the Royal Shakespeare Company, stepping into the dramatic world of Romeo and Juliet.
During an immersive workshop, pupils explored the famous feud between the Montagues and Capulets, experimented with Shakespearean language and considered what it might feel like to be caught between two powerful families.
James (Year 6, Baker) reflected:
‘Creating the party scene in Romeo and Juliet was really fun. I enjoyed playing instruments, wearing a mask, and drinking pretend wine!’

The learning continued with a walking tour of historic Stratford-upon-Avon led by Mr Peace. Pupils visited the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s former school, Shakespeare’s New Place and his birthplace, discovering fascinating stories about the Bard’s life along the way.
The final stop was the wonderfully inventive MAD Museum, where pupils explored automata and mechanical design ahead of creating their own cam toys in Design and Technology.
Molly (Year 6, Symonds) commented:
‘The MAD Museum was so interesting! I enjoyed looking at all the exhibits and learning about how they work. The marble run was a really fun challenge!’

A rich and memorable day that brought literature, history and engineering vividly to life.
