It took no small amount of courage for pupils to perform in the Start of Year Concert on Thursday 12 September, as most had not had a lesson for over two months. However, the parents, pupils and staff that gathered in the Corinthian Room that evening were treated to some wonderful performances by this year’s talented Music Award Holders.
Josh (Third Form, Feilden) gave a fabulous performance of John Stanley’s Trumpet Voluntary, whilst Florence (Second Form, Gascoigne) played Morning has Broken beautifully on violin. Emily (Second Form, Queen Anne) sang a captivating rendition of Birdy’s Wings, and the concert was drawn to a close with an impressive performance of Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise from Sophie (Fifth Form, Vanbrugh) on violin. It was an exceptional start to what promises to be a very exciting year’s worth of music-making at the School.
