A Record Breaking Sports Day

Jul 3, 2023

The Senior School Sports Day was a fabulous display of healthy competition and great sportsmanship. The atmosphere was electric, as parents and pupils descended on the Ducklington Cricket Square to watch our athletes in action. The 1500m was particularly impressive as Joshua (First Form, Queen Anne), Freddie (Fourth Form, Feilden) and Jasmine (Lower Sixth, Gascoigne) all broke existing School records. Further records were broken in the 400m races as Molly (Lower Sixth, Queen Anne), Sienna (First Form, Vanbrugh) and Burfitt Cup Winner Joshua (First Form, Queen Anne) stunned the crowd with more athletic prowess.

The tug-of-war was an ever-present spectacle running alongside the running events and, in the end, Gascoigne dug their heels in and showed the strength to see off the other Houses and win the competition. There was one final record to be broken in the 4 x 100m relay which was set by Queen Anne’s senior team of Ollie (Lower Sixth, Queen Anne), Lyla (Lower Sixth, Queen Anne), Freddie (Lower Sixth, Queen Anne), and Matthew (Lower Sixth, Queen Anne).
