Vision for the Future

Discover Cokethorpe’s substantial development plans for a Brighter Future

Our vision for 2027 and beyond

Ahead of the School’s 70th anniversary in 2027, Cokethorpe has announced ambitious plans for a transformational campaign which will, by 2027 to 2030, deliver a Brighter Future. Discover more below.

A holistic approach

As we approach our 70th anniversary year in 2027, Cokethorpe is embarking on a campaign to transform our educational offering, providing further benefit to our wider community in West Oxfordshire and beyond, ensuring a brighter future for all.

To achieve this, we are undertaking an extensive Transformational Campaign that will rely on partnerships and investment to realise our goals, enhancing our educational, community and commercial offerings. This bold plan will seek to reimagine our school site, providing benefit to all areas of what Cokethorpe offers, creating new spaces for Science, the Arts, and our Prep School, all the while being mindful of sustainable development and our commitment to becoming carbon neutral.

Core to the School’s strategic intents is the development of young men and women who will leave the School as true global citizens, ready to make their mark in a rapidly changing world. We will do this in a school environment that advocates sustainability by demonstrating how we will manage and develop our assets, from the use and purpose of our buildings to the careful management of our parkland.

‘I came to Cokethorpe because it is my family’s school.

I stayed because the ambition for the Arts, Science, and the Environment is inspiring.’

How we will enhance the School site

Phase one: new Science Centre

The new Science Centre will provide an enhanced environment for study, with ten purpose-built, fully fitted laboratories over two floors, dedicated preparation rooms with ready access to the labs, assisting with experiments and improving the experience for pupils and staff alike.

A new building, the design of the Science Centre has practicality and function at its core, all the while being mindful of the environmental impact in a modern, pragmatic aesthetic.

Phase two: new home for Prep School

The Vanbrugh Building sits towards the top end of the School site, backing onto Cokethorpe’s woodland, where Prep pupils enjoy bushcraft and adventure activities, and the playground.

We will refit and extend the Vanbrugh Building to house a dedicated Prep School, at the heart of the School and with readier access to the outdoor facilities the children enjoy.

Phases three and four: Arts Centre

The Queen Anne period Mansion House will provide glorious, historic inspiration for pursuit of Art, Music, Philosophy and Classics. The well proportioned rooms offer emotive settings for creation, learning and debate, with the Corinthian Room and expanded Art Studio granting quality performance and production spaces.
