Congratulations to Amelia (Feilden) and Ellie (Swift), members of the Third Form Greek AOB, for their success in the Latin and Greek Reading Competition held at the University of Oxford.
The event brought together almost one hundred pupils from Schools from across Oxfordshire to celebrate the art of oratory. The girls performed a scene of Greek Tragedy (Euripides’ Electra) in the original Greek language and metre and won their category, beating multiple other entries and impressing a judging panel of experienced faculty members. The judges’ feedback praised their clarity, pace and balance of dramatic flair with faithful conveyance of meaning. This affirmed Ellie and Amelia’s hard work and responsibility to practise their piece, as well as their courage and ambition to try new things. We are already looking forward to next year’s competition!
