It was quite an adventure for our Year 4 pupils as they embarked on, what was for many, their first experience of staying away from home. The air of nervousness on the morning of departure quickly dissipated on arrival as pupils got stuck into a challenging trail and exploration of the woodland.
After their first night was completed, a plethora of exciting activities began, including fire lighting, den building, and team-building challenges. S’mores around the campfire was the perfect way for our adventurers to end their busy day.
The following day, they explored an area of the site dedicated to maximising biodiversity and grassland habitats. Using nets, magnifying glasses, and binoculars, they hunted for wildlife in the grasslands and were thrilled to discover a slow worm! Later that day, they engaged in pond-dipping, hoping to find pond wildlife, and their search was rewarded with several Dragon Nymphs and even an encounter with a salamander. This residential was an experience none of the pupils will ever forget.
